Grace In Room 207

I see someone who is trying.
I wonder if you see what I see.

The human being across the desk
The fragile heart, arrhythmic in beat
The eyes bearing truth
The smile hiding realities
Of unbearable stress
Of broken dreams on defeathered wings
Of perpetual loneliness in
Collegial spaces, residential places, and emotional cases

I see someone who is (still) trying
I wonder if you see what I see?

The strong women in your presence
The drums pounding as the beat goes on
A brilliant mind over matter
An assurance, manifesting
Of resurrecting perspectives on seemingly broken things
Of immeasurable possibilities in
Collegial spaces, residential places, and emotional cases

I see someone who is trying
I wonder if you see what I see?

The human being behind the desk
The anxious heart eager to prove worth
The eyes bearing truth
The smile hiding realities
Of insecurities on underdeveloped wings
Of perpetual loneliness in
Collegial spaces, residential places, and emotional cases

I see two people who are trying
I wonder if you see who I see?
